Zelenskyy explained why he wrote an open letter to Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Putin must respond to his open letter proposing direct negotiations, as the public nature of the appeal obliges him to provide answers to issues of importance to society and may increase the chances of a ceasefire.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the open letter format is essential for demonstrating the true state of affairs, as Russian society lives in a fantasy world under the illusion that there is no aggressive war on their part.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russian Federation has shut down the internet and blocked many different things, which is why Ukraine currently has extremely limited opportunities to directly convey its messages to Russian citizens and authorities. Commenting on the immediate possibility of organizing a meeting, the President of Ukraine confirmed his full readiness to hold talks with Putin if the latter is truly committed to a genuine cessation of the military conflict.

This was stated in Zelenskyy’s interview with Sky News.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but does not see any willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
