Ukraine has appointed a new honorary consul to the Dominican Republic—Victoria Yakimova.
The honorary consulate office opened on March 21.
The appointment sparked debate, as Yakimova previously worked in the modeling industry.
She herself stated that she does not hide her past and has the right to change her career path.
According to her, after the start of the full-scale war, many Ukrainians changed careers and joined efforts to support the state.
Yakimova is originally from Odesa, currently lives in La Romana, and also works in the IT sector.
