Near Zmiinyi, the military destroyed a Russian naval drone carrying explosives

In the Black Sea near Zmiinyi Island, Ukrainian military forces detected and destroyed a Russian unmanned naval vessel, the “Kama,” which was equipped with explosives.

The destruction has also been confirmed by recent reports on the operation by the Navy and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

According to the Ukrainian Navy, the operation was carried out by Navy personnel in coordination with one of the SBU’s special units.

“The Ukrainian Navy, in cooperation with one of the SBU’s special units, carried out a successful special operation in the Black Sea. An enemy unmanned surface vessel was detected and neutralized near Zmiinyi Island,” the statement reads.

The target was a “Kama”-class unmanned surface vessel carrying explosives.

Ukrainian military personnel detected the enemy target at sea and struck it.

Footage released shows that after being hit, the Russian boat caught fire and subsequently exploded.

Thus, the Russian unmanned boat carrying explosives was destroyed before it could pose a further threat.

This was reported on September 2 by the Ukrainian Navy.

Over the past 24 hours, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Group struck or destroyed 1,876 enemy targets. Among them were personnel, drone launch sites, reconnaissance and electronic warfare assets, vehicles, artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, and naval assets.

The pace of Russian troop advances in August 2026 increased slightly; however, the occupying army was unable to execute operational maneuvers or break through Ukrainian defenses. Russian territorial gains remain slow and limited.
