Energy substation damaged in Dzhankoi, Crimea, following drone attack
On 13 January, a direct hit was recorded on a 330 kV substation in the occupied city of Dzhankoi. The facility is a key energy asset that ensures the stability of Crimea’s power system.
According to eyewitness accounts, debris from a drone initially fell onto the substation’s territory, followed by a direct strike that triggered a large-scale fire.
As a result of the attack, both the substation itself and electricity supply in Dzhankoi and nearby settlements were affected, with the exception of the village of Azovske, which receives power from a different substation.
The strike occurred amid a series of explosions across Crimea, particularly in the area of the Belbek airfield. These incidents were accompanied by internet access disruptions and increased activity of Russian air defence systems.
Separate groups of armed drones were also spotted in other parts of Crimea, including Balaklava, where possible attacks on a local thermal power plant were reported. The situation remains tense as active hostilities continue and air security conditions in the region change rapidly.
In Belgorod, shopping centres have begun closing due to large-scale power outages following strikes on energy infrastructure. Mobile communication towers are also being shut down en masse.
It is worth noting that the Belgorod region has been without electricity for the third consecutive day due to strikes on energy facilities.
