Four soldiers were wounded following explosions at a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi
An ammunition detonation occurred at a military training range in Khmelnytskyi. Four servicemen were injured in the incident, and several others are currently unaccounted for. Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal investigation and are determining the causes of the explosions.
On July 31, an ammunition detonation occurred at a military training ground in Khmelnytskyi. According to preliminary information, the explosions occurred around 11:55 a.m. As a result of the incident, four servicemen were injured, and several others remain unaccounted for. Under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense Affairs of the Western Region, a criminal investigation has already been opened. Investigators are determining all the circumstances of the incident.
It is known that the four injured servicemen were transported to a medical facility. Doctors are providing them with the necessary care, and the severity of their injuries is currently being assessed. In addition, the search continues for several servicemen who were at the site of the explosions. There is currently no contact with them, so law enforcement and military personnel are working to determine their whereabouts.
At the same time, investigators have already begun questioning the unit’s command and service members who may help determine the causes of the incident. A full inspection of the explosion site is not yet possible. Investigators will be able to begin their work only after the detonation of ammunition has ceased and the area is deemed safe. “An inspection of the scene and initial investigative actions will be carried out after the detonations have ceased and safe access to the training ground has been established,” law enforcement officials reported.
Experts are currently determining the exact cause of the explosions. All possible scenarios are being examined as part of the investigation. A preliminary criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 414 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This pertains to violations of the rules for handling weapons, ammunition, explosives, or other hazardous substances, if such violations resulted in bodily injury to several people.
