The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported on the situation involving Belarusian troops near the Ukrainian border

Ukraine is not currently observing any buildup of Belarusian troops or military equipment directly near its border. At the same time, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted that Russia could potentially use Belarusian territory to intensify its activities in this area.

Andriy Demchenko, a spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, spoke about this on the “Den.LIVE” broadcast.

According to Demchenko, Ukrainian border guards currently see no signs of a buildup of Belarusian forces near the Ukrainian border.

“As of now, we have not observed any buildup of Belarusian units—whether in terms of equipment or personnel—directly near the border with Ukraine,” said the State Border Guard Service spokesperson.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military is keeping a close eye on the situation.

“Russia could use Belarusian territory as a springboard if it has additional resources to escalate its actions in this direction,” Demchenko emphasized.

He also noted that Belarus regularly conducts combat readiness inspections and military exercises. At the same time, Minsk is currently trying to avoid the direct, large-scale involvement of its own army in the war against Ukraine.

For its part, Ukraine continues to strengthen its defenses along the northern border. In particular, the Ukrainian military is upgrading fortifications and installing minefields in the most vulnerable areas, Demchenko noted.

Over the past 24 hours, 278 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines. Russian troops carried out the most assaults in the Pokrovsk direction—Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 enemy attacks.

As of September 16, 2026, the Ukrainian military had eliminated 1,530 Russian occupiers over the past day. The total losses of the Russian Federation’s army increased by another 1,530 soldiers.

Since the start of the day on September 15, there have been 219 combat engagements on the front lines. Russian troops launched the most attacks in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian forces repelled 38 assaults.
