Special Operations Forces drones struck two gas plants deep behind enemy lines in Russia
Deep Strike units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Special Operations Forces carried out the deepest strike into Russian territory since the war began, attacking the Novy Urengoy and Purovsky plants in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug with drones.
Ukrainian drones traveled more than 3,000 kilometers and struck facilities deep behind enemy lines that were previously considered completely secure.
Both facilities are key components of Russia’s gas condensate industry and play a significant role in shaping the aggressor nation’s budget. In particular, the Purovsky plant alone processed 13.4 million metric tons of gas condensate in 2025. The Special Operations Forces emphasized that this successful operation was part of a series of long-range strikes against infrastructure that enables the enemy to continue the war.

In Novy Urengoy, Russia, authorities reported that a gas condensate processing plant had been struck. Following this, the Ukrainian company Fire Point published a cryptic statement about drones that allegedly traveled over 3,300 km and struck the target.
