Fire Point announces preparations to deploy a ballistic missile made in Ukraine

In Kyiv, Iryna Terekh, CEO of the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, said that in several months the company plans to deploy a ballistic missile designed and manufactured in Ukraine. She told CBS News about this.

According to Terekh, it is expected to be the first ballistic missile fully designed and manufactured in Ukraine. As CBS News explains, ballistic missiles follow an arcing trajectory at a much higher altitude than cruise missiles, which may make them more difficult to intercept.

Drone production

Fire Point is one of Ukraine's largest drone manufacturers. After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion — the aggressor state — Terekh and businessman Denys Shtilerman decided to produce long-range strike drones. A third co-founder, film producer Yehor Skalyha, also joined the team.

More current news is available on the UA.News Telegram channel Telegram.

Initially, the team planned to manufacture 20 FP-1 drones per month. According to CBS News, by 2024 these drones were regularly used to strike Russian airfields, ammunition depots and oil refineries. Fire Point now produces between 300 and 400 long-range strike drones per day and has added more complex types of weapons to its production lines.

Statements by Fire Point's CEO

Terekh also said that in June, a Fire Point cruise missile completed a mission at a distance of more than 1,000 miles, or about 1,600 kilometers. She called it the longest cruise missile strike in combat history, although CBS News presents this as her claim.

In addition, according to Terekh, in 2026 Ukraine carried out twice as many long-range strikes on Russia as Russia did on Ukraine. She also claims that Fire Point weapons were used in 60% of Ukrainian attacks. According to her, the company's main area of work remains Ukraine's defense.
