Photo: Russia damaged a church in Kyiv that was built over a century ago

On the night of September 24, a Russian attack damaged the Holy Intercession Church in Priorki. The church was built in 1906, and photos showing the damage from the strike have been posted online.

 

This was reported by Volodymyr Nakonechny, head of the Podil District State Administration.

“The Holy Intercession Church—a church built in 1906 and the oldest church in the Mostytskyi and Vynogradar neighborhoods—was damaged by the enemy attack,” Nakonechny noted.

According to the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the church’s windows were shattered, and debris fell onto the altar. The parish premises also sustained significant damage.

“The windows, domes, and the historic facade made of yellow Kyiv brick were damaged—a part of the church that has preserved the memory of this neighborhood for over a century,” Nakonechny wrote.  

 

 

 

 

 

As a reminder, Russia struck a maternity hospital in Kyiv’s Podilsky District.

In Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district, a residential area was destroyed as a result of a Russian attack on September 24. According to preliminary information, there were no fatalities among the residents.

Also in Obolon, a UAV crashed onto the grounds of a garage cooperative.
