The number of Russian occupiers in Ukrainian captivity has reached a record
According to the volunteer initiative “I Want to Live,” the largest number of Russian soldiers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is currently being held in Ukrainian captivity.
At the same time, as activists note, Russia continues to sabotage prisoner exchanges under the “all for all” formula.
This was reported by the “I Want to Live” project on Telegram.
“Currently, the largest number of Russian prisoners of war for the entire period are being held in Ukrainian captivity — thousands of Russians have filled Ukrainian prisoner of war camps,” the project said in a statement.
The “I Want to Live” initiative also pointed out that Russians are sending soldiers who were returned as a result of exchanges back to the front again. An exchange in the “all for all” format would allow the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to replenish losses comparable to half of a division (about 4–6 thousand people). However, the Russian authorities continue to sabotage such an exchange.
It should be recalled that Ukraine is demanding access from Hungary to prisoners transferred there by the Russian Federation.
It should also be recalled that Ukraine has returned more than 6 thousand people from Russian captivity, including 409 civilians.
It should be recalled that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have eliminated about 1,265,900 Russian soldiers, including 770 over the past day.
The Russian Federation continues to use manipulation and deception to recruit foreigners, including citizens of Arab countries, as “cannon fodder” in the war against Ukraine.
