The Commander of the National Guard assessed whether Russia might launch an offensive against Kyiv
Russia currently lacks sufficient forces and manpower to conduct an offensive operation from Belarus toward Kyiv. To create a buffer zone 10–20 kilometers wide, Russia would need more than 70,000 troops; however, Ukrainian intelligence has not detected the formation of such a force.
According to Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of the Ukrainian National Guard, the enemy lacks offensive capabilities in this direction. “For now, they have no offensive capabilities in this direction because they don’t have enough troops,” the National Guard commander emphasized.
This was stated in an interview the National Guard commander gave to the YouTube channel “LB Live.”
The Kremlin has stated that any negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine are unacceptable unless they meet all of Moscow’s demands. Even in the event of potential territorial concessions, Moscow will not stop and will continue to insist on the fulfillment of its conditions.
Lavrov noted that Russia will only be satisfied with control over the entire Donbas and a change of government in Ukraine.
