Kyiv City Express has suspended service due to an airborne threat

The decision was made by the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring group. “Due to an elevated threat to the capital and the Kyiv region, safety protocols are in effect as directed by the monitoring groups. Kyiv City Express train service has been temporarily suspended,” the statement reads.

Passengers are urged not to remain in the train cars during such a stop. People are advised to take shelter or move to a safe distance from the tracks and railway infrastructure. Kyiv City Express emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority at this time. Trains will resume service once the monitoring team authorizes the resumption of operations. “Kyiv City Express service will resume once the air threat has passed,” the company said.

This is not the first time the circular commuter train has been forced to stop during air raid alerts. Kyiv City Express had warned passengers in advance that trains may stop in accordance with safety protocols during attacks on the capital. Once permission is received from the monitoring group, service resumes and trains gradually catch up to their schedule. Passengers are advised to follow announcements from railway officials and not to attempt to remain near the train during a threat.
