Lavrov Blamed the U.S. for Prolonging the War Against Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the U.S. allegedly reneged on the agreements reached by the parties during the talks in Anchorage. According to him, this is precisely what led to the continuation of the war against Ukraine.

According to Lavrov, if the American side had not reneged on the agreements reached, the war could have ended a year ago.

“If the Americans hadn’t backed away from the agreements reached in Anchorage, we would have been living without war for a year now,” Lavrov said.

The Russian minister did not specify exactly which agreements he was referring to or when, according to him, Washington reneged on them.

Earlier, Lavrov stated that Russia would not end the war for the sake of negotiations with Ukraine.

Earlier, Lavrov said that Russia liked the U.S. approach to the peace plan.

Russia will continue the war against Ukraine and rejects the proposal regarding civilian ships, according to Lavrov.

U.S. Special Envoys Steve Witkopf and Jared Kushner discussed with Moscow and Kyiv possible steps to reduce the intensity of hostilities during the winter.
