The Ministry of Defense has confirmed large-scale drone strikes on targets in the Moscow region

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has officially confirmed that it carried out massive strikes on strategic industrial and energy facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region. The Russian capital region has suffered one of the most powerful drone attacks since the start of full-scale hostilities. 

This was reported in a post by the Ministry of Defense on Threads. Representatives of the defense ministry emphasized the inevitability of retribution, noting that the aggression unleashed is logically returning directly to the territory of the aggressor country.

As a result of a successful operation by the Defense Forces, the Moscow Oil Refinery and the large Solnechnogorsk oil depot were hit for the first time. In addition to the fuel sector, a number of closed enterprises specializing in the production of military microelectronics for the needs of the Russian army sustained significant damage. Previously, the invaders’ industrial infrastructure was under heavy cover by air defense units, which this time were unable to intercept aerial targets and prevent the destruction.

On the night of May 17, a number of Russian military-industrial complex and energy facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region were struck. Strikes were carried out on the oil depot in Durikino, the oil refinery in Kapotnya, the Angstrom microelectronics plant, and the Raduga Design Bureau, which develops cruise missiles.

On the morning of May 16, Moscow also came under attack by drones, causing airports in the Russian capital to temporarily suspend operations.

The “ATESH” partisan movement claimed responsibility for a sabotage operation in the Moscow region, which disrupted the functioning of elements of the Russian air defense system on the outskirts of the capital.
