Frost on the front slows down occupiers’ attacks — serviceman

Severe frost currently gripping Ukraine has slowed Russian occupiers’ attempts to advance along the front line.
This was stated on air by Danylo Melnykov, Head of Communications of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, speaking to Kyiv24.

According to him, “such extreme sub-zero temperatures” genuinely affect the enemy’s operational tempo, although the cold alone does not change the main reality — combat operations continue every day.

At the same time, the serviceman stressed that frost cannot be considered a “pause” for Ukrainian units.
On the front line, soldiers operate in the same conditions as the enemy, and temperatures of around minus 20°C pose an additional challenge. Melnykov explained that positions often do not allow for deep trenches or proper heating of shelters with available means, which significantly increases the cost of every hour spent on the “zero line”.

Under such conditions, cold weather adds complexity for all sides rather than easing pressure on any section of the front.

Meanwhile, reports also indicate changes on certain axes.
According to analysts from DeepState, Ukraine’s Defence Forces have restored their positions in Kupiansk and regained control over a significant part of the city that had previously been in the “grey” and “red” zones, while Russian forces continue to hold positions in the northern part of the city.
At the same time, Russian troops have advanced near Udachne and Hryshyne, and movement has also been reported near Pryvilne, in the direction of the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration.

Overall, the situation remains dynamic: local successes alternate with repelled attacks, and weather conditions only adjust the pace — not the nature — of the fighting.

Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed a TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” system on Russian territory for the first time. Ukrainian troops also eliminated enemy infantry that had penetrated the eastern outskirts of Hryshyne.
