In the north of occupied Crimea, Russian security forces are conducting raids on the homes of Crimean Tatars — Chubarov

In the north of the temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian security forces are conducting illegal raids on the homes of Crimean Tatars. There are also reports of searches and detentions at a mosque on the peninsula’s southern coast.

This was reported by Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People. According to him, on August 8–9, reports came in of raids by Russian security forces in a number of settlements in Northern Crimea.

Separately, it was reported that searches and detentions took place at a mosque in one of the settlements on the southern coast.

Chubarov urged people directly affected by these actions not to remain silent about instances of lawlessness and to report them.

He emphasized that publicizing information about the actions of the Russian occupation forces is crucial for documenting potential crimes.

“Know this: as long as you remain silent about the lawlessness being committed against you and your loved ones, you remain extremely vulnerable. The Russian occupiers in Crimea fear public exposure of the crimes they have committed. Do not remain silent. Document it. Report it,” said the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.

Chubarov made this statement on Facebook on August 9.

As a reminder, the ATR television channel, with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, is implementing a cultural and educational project under which historian Valery Vozgrin’s seminal work, *The History of the Crimean Tatars*, will be published in Ukrainian for the first time.
