Ukrainian military advances reported in Sumy Oblast — ISW

Ukrainian defense forces have managed to advance north of the city of Sumy.

According to analysts, Ukrainian Armed Forces troops are advancing north of Korchakivka, near Sumy.

Against the backdrop of recent events, Russian sources claim that the Russian army is allegedly advancing in the north of the Sumy region, but there is no evidence to support these claims.

In the north of the Kharkiv region, Russian troops continued offensive operations on September 29–30 but did not achieve any confirmed successes. It is known that Ukrainian forces carried out successful counterattacks in this sector of the front.

A similar situation was observed in the Kupiansk direction, where Russian forces were also unable to advance due to resistance from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces continued to strike Russian military targets in the occupied Luhansk region. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on September 30, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian command and observation post in Lysychansk, as well as a military repair base in Starobilsk.

On September 29–30, Russian troops also carried out offensive operations in the Lyman area, but no confirmed advances were recorded. Ukrainian forces continued to counterattack in this sector.

Russian sources also continue to spread falsehoods about their troops’ successes in the Lyman sector, refusing to acknowledge the achievements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces as part of Operation “Vivaldi.”

In the Kostiantynivka sector on September 29–30, Russian forces concentrated their offensive operations near Kostiantynivka and southwest of the city, and also advanced toward Oleksiivka-Druzhkivka. At the same time, no confirmed advance by Russian troops has been recorded. It is known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out counterattacks to the north and northwest of Kostiantynivka.

In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to launch medium-range strikes against Russian military targets in the occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast.

This is reported with reference to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced on four fronts and liberated a village in the Donetsk region, according to the ISW.

As a reminder, Ukrainian defense forces damaged five workshops at a military plant in Russia.

On the night of September 26, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a number of key facilities on Russian territory that support the Russian military machine. Among them were the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov region and the “Ilsky” oil refinery in the Krasnodar region.

As a reminder, the Perm oil refinery in Russia ceased operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones on September 25. According to Reuters, a fire broke out at the facility, and pipelines, storage tanks, and processing units were damaged. It is not yet known when the refinery will be able to resume operations.
