Russian drone damages critical infrastructure in Zhytomyr region

On the night of 23 January 2026, a Russian drone struck a critical infrastructure facility in Zhytomyr region. The resulting fire was quickly extinguished by emergency services.

According to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured.

Fourteen rescuers and three pieces of equipment worked at the site.

Air raid alerts in Zhytomyr region sounded twice due to Russian drone activity: in the evening of 22 January and the following day in Korosten and Zhytomyr districts, lasting several hours.

On the night of 21 January, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on southern Odesa region.

Earlier, Russia also struck an industrial facility in Poltava region, causing fires at multiple sites. Fires were also extinguished in Odesa region following Russian attacks.
