Tensions rise on the Pokrovsk axis: Russia pulls in reserves
The operational situation on the Pokrovsk axis remains critical.
Major General Oleksandr Syrskyi reported a buildup of Russian reserves in the Pokrovsk area, where heavy fighting with Ukrainian forces is ongoing.
The enemy is employing mass assault tactics as well as small assault groups, attempting to identify weak points in the defence. This creates a constant need for timely intelligence support and adaptability among Ukrainian units.
Ukrainian troops are actively resisting the attacks, ensuring defence and prioritising the preservation of personnel lives.
Due to increased pressure from the enemy and attempts to bypass key strongpoints, commanders have issued orders to reinforce support. Despite the difficult situation, Ukrainian service members are demonstrating high resilience and professionalism, preventing the enemy from achieving its objectives.
The Defence Forces control the northern part of Pokrovsk and are holding back enemy offensive actions on the approaches to Myrnohrad. Despite numerous breakthrough attempts, all have so far been unsuccessful, underscoring the dedication of Ukrainian defenders and their ability to respond effectively to threats.
On 18 January, 144 combat engagements took place along the front line in Ukraine, including intense assaults on the Pokrovsk axis.
