“Our partners must remember that air defence is needed every day,” — Zelenskyy
Overnight, Russian forces struck a hospital in Kyiv that had an operating inpatient ward. Patients had to be urgently evacuated; there are injured people and one fatality.
This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who assured that all those affected are receiving necessary assistance and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. He added that the hospital will be restored.
The president also stated that during the night, Russia carried out a massive attack using 165 strike drones, about 100 of which were “Shahed” drones.
The shelling caused new damage and power outages across various regions of Ukraine. Repair crews, energy workers, and emergency services are working to restore services.
“It is essential for our partners to remember that air defence is needed every day, funds for the production of interceptor drones — every day, equipment for the energy sector — every day. This week we will work with our European and American partners to ensure Ukraine receives the necessary support. Thank you to everyone who supports our state and our people,” Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, a Russian drone attack on a private clinic in Kyiv killed one man and injured three others. Law enforcement agencies are documenting the consequences of the Russian strike.
On the night of 5 January, Russian forces carried out a massive aerial attack on Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and a large number of strike drones.
