The Shevchenko National Museum was damaged as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv

As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on September 28, the building of the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, located in the center of the capital, sustained damage.

"This is yet another Russian attack on Ukrainian education, science, and culture. In the heart of the capital, the Russians damaged the Taras Shevchenko National Museum. A Russian drone struck the Presidium Building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine—a historical monument of national significance. Russia continues to deliberately destroy what shapes and preserves Ukrainian identity. We are documenting the consequences of the Russian attacks and making every effort to preserve our cultural heritage,” the press service quoted Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhna as saying.

It is noted that the Shevchenko Museum is a literary and art museum in Kyiv dedicated to the life and work of the Ukrainian poet, artist, philosopher, and public intellectual Taras Shevchenko.

The ministry recalled that Russian attacks have already caused damage to the museum; specifically, on October 10, 2022, a shock wave from a massive missile strike on Kyiv damaged the museum building.

Currently, experts are inspecting the building to assess the extent of the damage.

In Ternopil, explosions were heard following a jet drone attack.
