Unknown drones attack drone manufacturing plant in Taganrog

On the night of 13 January, the Russian city of Taganrog came under attack by unknown drones, which began at around 5 a.m. Kyiv time.

According to information circulating on local channels, a fire broke out at one of the enterprises that reportedly specialises in producing components for combat drones. The facility in question is said to be the Atlant Aero plant.

Regional governor Yury Slyusar confirmed the fact of the attack, noting that air defence forces were attempting to repel the aerial threat. There have been no reports of casualties so far, but local residents have been urged to exercise caution and follow the instructions of emergency services.

“Air defence forces are currently repelling an air attack on Taganrog. No information has been received about casualties among civilians. Data on damage on the ground are being clarified. I urge everyone to exercise maximum caution, follow the instructions of emergency services, stay indoors and keep away from windows,” he wrote in a post at 05:55.

It is worth noting that Atlant Aero manufactures components for combat drones, control systems and electronic warfare (EW) complexes. In particular, the company is involved in the production of Orion drones and FPV UAVs.

Earlier reports noted that Russia’s Belgorod region has been without electricity for a third consecutive day due to strikes on energy infrastructure.

On New Year’s night, drones also attacked an oil depot and a refinery in Russia, causing fires.
