The occupiers plan to demolish at least 79 high-rise buildings in Sievierodonetsk
The Russian occupation authorities have decided not to rebuild a significant portion of the destroyed housing in Sievierodonetsk. Instead, they plan to demolish at least 79 high-rise buildings in the city that were damaged during the Russian assault.
Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, stated that the occupation administration initially promised to rebuild the housing stock but abandoned these plans after assessing the cost of the work.
“When the Russians realized that rebuilding the destroyed high-rise buildings would require significant capital investment, they quickly forgot about their promises and began demolishing these buildings en masse,” Kharchenko said.
According to him, the occupiers had already demolished several high-rise buildings in previous years, and under the new demolition plan, at least 79 residential buildings are slated for demolition. Currently, one or two apartment buildings are being demolished each month in Sievierodonetsk.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually take place at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.
