Occupiers sentenced a couple from the Kherson region for supporting Ukraine
Russian occupiers sentenced a family from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region to lengthy prison terms. Vladimir Gulchak, 42, was sentenced to 16 years in a penal colony on charges of allegedly passing information about Russian military personnel to Ukrainian intelligence.
His wife, Olga, had previously been sentenced to 12 years in prison. The occupying authorities accused her of allegedly transferring funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The so-called Kherson Regional Court, controlled by the Russian Federation, found Volodymyr Gulchak guilty of “treason.” In addition to 16 years in a strict-regime penal colony, he was fined 350,000 rubles.
According to Russian security forces, in September 2023, the man used Viber to pass information to Ukrainian intelligence about the locations of Russian troops in the occupied Chaplynka district. The occupiers claim that this information could have been used to launch strikes against the deployment sites of Russian troops and military equipment.
Earlier, the occupation court had also convicted the man’s wife, Olga Gulchak, on charges of “treason,” sentencing her to 12 years in a general-regime penal colony.
Russian security forces accused her of providing financial support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In a video of her interrogation that was made public, the woman stated that she had transferred money six times to an acquaintance in Chaplynka and understood that the funds were being used to support Ukrainian troops.

Earlier, the Russian occupation authorities sentenced a 24-year-old resident of the Donetsk region to 14 years in a maximum-security prison for allegedly passing information to Ukrainian intelligence about the location of Russian troops in the Donetsk region.
Previously, two residents of the Kramatorsk district were found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Andriy Gulak, a 61-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The Russian side accused the man of allegedly participating in a terrorist group due to his service in the “Azov” regiment.
