An SBS pilot became the first in the world to shoot down a "Shahed" remotely

An SBS pilot became the first in the world to shoot down a "Shahed" remotely

Military analyst Oleksiy Kopytko reported on March 24, 2026, that the 190th Training Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces had carried out the world’s first remote shootdown of a Russian “Shahed” strike UAV. The pilot was in a safe location far from the launch site of the interceptor drone.

The interception was carried out using an interceptor drone based on the Litavr system from F-Drones. A key feature of the operation was that the pilot was located at a significant distance from the drone’s launch site, setting a precedent in the use of air defense systems.

The technological solution based on the F7 Litavr system allows Ukrainian military personnel to control interceptors from safe locations, minimizing risks to personnel. According to a former advisor to the Minister of Defense, the successful testing of the system in combat conditions marks a new phase in the drone war, enabling the remote destruction of Russian air attack assets. A video confirming the successful operation of the SBS training center has been released online.

On March 24, Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on western regions of Ukraine using kamikaze drones. In Lviv, one of the drones struck a building in the city center, causing a fire.

This attack was part of a large-scale Russian air offensive that on March 24 swept across several regions of Ukraine, including critical infrastructure facilities in the rear areas.
