Air defense forces shot down 165 of 196 drones during the Russian attack
On the night of September 9, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 196 drones. Air defense forces shot down 165 enemy drones launched beginning on the evening of September 8.
Starting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, the enemy launched “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles from the temporarily occupied Crimea, an S8000 “Banderole” from the waters of the Sea of Azov, as well as 196 Shahed-type strike UAVs (including jet-powered ones), “Gerbera” drones, and “Parody”-type decoy drones from the following directions: Orel, Kursk (Russian Federation), the temporarily occupied Donetsk, and Gvardeyskoye (Crimea).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, air defense forces shot down or neutralized 165 drones.
Missile and strike UAV strikes were recorded at 23 locations, and downed targets (debris) fell at four locations.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
