Air defense forces destroyed more than 120 drones and a missile during a nighttime attack by Russia
On the night of July 24–25, Russian forces launched more than 150 aerial targets at Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed and intercepted one X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missile and 127 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types.
At the same time, some of the enemy drones reached their targets. The Air Force reported strikes at several locations and the fall of debris from downed drones.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russians launched the attack on the evening of July 24. In total, the enemy deployed two X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles and 157 attack drones. Among the drones launched were “Shaheds,” jet-powered drones, as well as “Gerbera” and “Italmas” drones, “Banderol” loitering munitions, and “Parodia” decoy drones.
The launches were carried out from various directions, including from Russian territory—specifically the Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions. The enemy also launched drones from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and Crimea. The air attack was repelled by Ukrainian military personnel from various units. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups were deployed to defend the airspace. “As of 7:30 a.m. on July 25, the destruction and neutralization of one X-59/69 missile and 127 enemy drones have been confirmed,” the Air Force reported.
It is noted that the drones were shot down or disabled in various regions of Ukraine—in the north, south, east, and central parts of the country. At the same time, 26 attack UAVs were recorded striking nine locations. Debris from the downed targets also fell at four additional locations. The X-59/69 guided missile, which the Russians launched during the attack, did not reach its target.
The Air Force added that the air attack was still ongoing—enemy drones remained in the sky. Ukrainian defense forces continued their efforts to neutralize the aerial targets. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
