Russia has been launching wave after wave of attacks on Odesa for hours, combining missiles and drones
During their attacks on Odesa, Russian forces are employing combined strikes using missiles and drones, including launching them from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea. Such attacks can last for hours and occur in several waves.
This was reported by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, during a television broadcast.
“No, in reality, they can’t come up with anything new, but this time they used both drones and missiles. Typical for attacks on the Odesa region are launches from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea; two missiles flew directly at the city from there, and, unfortunately, the response time is very short—the flight time is between one and a half to two minutes. In addition, these are “Shaheds” that were used for attacks from the sea; right now they’re also attacking in Odesa—you can hear the attacks happening. “Today we’ve probably set a record—a total of 87 ‘Shaheds’ were shot down by units of the Naval Forces; from the nighttime attack until the morning of the 10th, we shot them down, but overall, they’ve been operating quite intensively across the south today,” he noted.
According to Pletenchuk, such attacks usually occur in several stages and are aimed at wearing down Ukraine’s air defense.
“Traditionally, they happen at night. There may be several waves; they accumulate a certain number of drones in the air, after which they begin to directly attack the city or infrastructure. Sometimes they even do this during the day to exhaust our defenders as much as possible, so they have no rest at all, but mostly this happens at night, and it can last for hours,” the spokesperson said.
During the Russian attack on Kyiv, one of the missiles exploded near a construction site belonging to the development company SAGA Development in the Pochaina district. Six construction workers were injured as a result of the incident.
In Kyiv, 60 cars were burned in a massive Russian attack, and two security guards were killed.
As a reminder, the death toll from the massive drone attack on Odesa on January 27 has risen to four. An elderly man died in the hospital from his injuries.
On the night of January 29, Russia struck Odesa with attack drones, causing a fire at one of the industrial facilities.
As a reminder, the enemy attacked an infrastructure facility in Odesa with drones.
Drones also attacked an oil depot in the Voronezh region.
