Russia launches massive drone strike on Odesa region: port infrastructure damaged, one injured

Early in the morning, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Odesa region, using strike drones, according to Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleg Kiper.

Despite active air defense efforts, the attack caused damage to industrial and port infrastructure in the Odesa district.

“Despite the active work of air defense forces, damage was recorded to industrial and port infrastructure in the Odesa district. Empty oil storage tanks at an industrial facility were damaged. Unfortunately, one person was injured,” the report stated.

Additionally, a civilian vessel located in the port was damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no fires broke out after the strikes, and there are no confirmed fatalities.

The strike reflects Russia’s continued intent to occupy Ukrainian territories and attempts to plunge Ukrainian cities and villages into blackouts through mass air attacks.

For context, on the night of 30 December, Russian forces carried out a massive air strike across Ukraine, launching two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from temporarily occupied Crimea and Voronezh region, along with 60 strike dronesof Shahed, Gerber, and other types from Russian and occupied Crimea territory.
