Russia launched a massive attack on the Kherson region, leaving one person dead and 16 wounded

Throughout the day on April 2, Russian occupation forces carried out a series of brutal attacks on the Kherson region, using artillery and FPV drones against the civilian population. 

According to the regional prosecutor’s office, as of 6:00 p.m., one death has been confirmed, and 16 others sustained injuries of varying severity. The most tragic incident occurred in the afternoon in Kherson, where an enemy drone struck a civilian vehicle, killing the 42-year-old driver instantly.

In total, 15 people were injured in the regional capital as a result of the combined attacks. Among the injured were a 16-year-old teenager and three police officers who came under fire while performing their duties. In addition to Kherson, the village of Komyshany came under enemy fire, where a local resident was wounded. The occupiers deliberately targeted residential neighborhoods and areas where civilians congregate to inflict maximum damage.

As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure sustained significant damage: private and apartment buildings, outbuildings, and citizens’ vehicles were damaged. Law enforcement agencies have already launched pre-trial investigations into violations of the laws and customs of war by Russian armed forces. Prosecutors and investigators continue to document the consequences of the attacks for subsequent submission of materials to international tribunals. The situation in the region remains extremely tense due to the constant threat of renewed strikes.
