Russia shelled Chernihiv region, grain storage facility destroyed
In the night of March 11, Russian forces attacked the village of Zhadove in the Semenivka community of Chernihiv region. As a result of a UAV strike on the local agricultural enterprise, a large-scale fire broke out.
This was reported by the head of the Novhorod-Siverskyi RMA, Oleksandr Seliverstov, and the head of the Chernihiv OMA, Vyacheslav Chaus.
The fire almost completely destroyed a 1,000 sq. m. grain storage facility. Farm equipment, including a ZIL-130 truck, as well as other property, was also damaged.
“Late in the evening and during the night, the enemy struck enterprises in the Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts with ‘Geran’ drones. In particular, there were hits in the Menshchyna area. In the Semenivka community, a strike hit an agricultural enterprise — the grain storage was completely burned, and equipment was damaged,” Chaus said.

Over the past day, Russian forces shelled Chernihiv region 40 times. Amid these attacks, Ukraine is starting its spring sowing campaign, which this year began slightly later due to deeper soil freezing and prolonged snow cover in some regions.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky noted that farmers are already entering the active phase of fieldwork and have sufficient stocks of fuel, seeds, and other resources. Traditionally, sowing begins in the southern regions — Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk — and gradually moves north.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the sown area of spring crops in 2026 is expected to remain roughly the same as last year, including in frontline regions, where farmers plan to sow all available and safe land.
It should be recalled that on the night of March 8, Russian occupation forces carried out a large-scale attack on the Myrhorod district of Poltava region, targeting an industrial enterprise.
On the morning of March 11, Russian occupation forces struck the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv using an attack UAV.
It should also be recalled that Russian drones attacked an industrial facility in Poltava region.
Additionally, Russians struck energy infrastructure in Sumy region, leaving parts of the region without electricity.
