Russia shells Sumy region, three killed, 13 injured in 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out a series of attacks on settlements in Sumy region, killing three people and injuring 13 others. Law enforcement authorities are documenting the attacks as war crimes.
The National Police reported.
The following communities were hit: Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Vorozhba, Khotin, and the city of Sumy.
The heaviest losses were reported in the Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, where two men aged 37 and 33 were killed. Two local residents, aged 54 and 40, were also injured.
In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 62-year-old man was killed in a drone attack. Another local resident, aged 55, was injured.
Casualties were reported elsewhere as well. In particular, in the Esman community, a guided aerial bomb (KAB) strike left four people injured: men aged 69 and 61, and women aged 50 and 73.
In the Vorozhba community, a drone attack on a civilian vehicle injured two men aged 64 and 65.
In the Khotin community, a 69-year-old man was injured in another UAV strike.
In the city of Sumy, drone attacks injured men aged 28 and 49, as well as a 23-year-old man.
Investigative teams, forensic experts, and explosive ordnance specialists are working at the strike sites. All incidents are being documented under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Violation of the laws and customs of war.”
Law enforcement officials emphasize that the attacks are targeting civilians, and the collected evidence will be used to bring those responsible to justice.
Earlier, overnight on March 20, Russian forces carried out a drone attack on a port in the Odesa region, damaging two civilian commercial vessels flying the flags of Palau and Barbados. The ships were carrying grain.
In addition, Russian forces carried out 16 attacks over the past day in the Nikopol and Synelnykove districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region, injuring two people.
