Russia has formed about 120 assault groups near Orikhiv
Russian troops are attempting to capture Orikhiv and have concentrated approximately 150,000 troops in that area. According to Ukrainian military officials, the enemy has also formed about 120 assault groups to launch attacks in that area.
He said the situation in the Orikhiv sector is difficult but under control. The line of contact has not changed.
"The only thing that has changed is the expanded buffer zone; it has grown significantly, and it is affecting our logistics. Orikhiv is under our control, and the enemy’s attempts to sporadically infiltrate the city only result in us having to deploy additional forces and assets from neighboring assault units to eliminate them,” he said.
Skibchik added that, as of now, the enemy is unable to mass large forces on the outskirts of Orikhiv or cause damage to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ logistics in this sector. However, the occupiers have formed about 120 assault groups. The press officer of the 65th “Velykyi Luh” Brigade clarified that these groups consist of forces from the Russian Federation’s 58th Combined Arms Army, specifically the 19th and 42nd Motorized Rifle Divisions.
“It must be said that these groups consist of assault troops trained from the 98th Airborne Division and the 7th, 11th, and 104th Airborne Assault Brigades. This is a significant force. The enemy has massed about 150,000 troops, but that is not enough to claim success,” Skibchik is convinced.
Taking advantage of poor weather conditions and an expanded area of operations, the enemy occasionally manages to gather in basements, but Ukrainian Armed Forces units detect these enemy groups and eliminate them.
Serhiy Skibchik, press officer for the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Velykyi Luh" of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, made these remarks on television, according to Ukrinform.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
