Russia shells Ukraine’s border regions daily but cannot break through defenses
Russian forces continue daily shelling of three Ukrainian border regions and attempt to advance with infantry groups, but they cannot penetrate the defensive lines held by Ukrainian border guards.
This was stated on air by Andriy Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“Along the border with Russia, the situation has not fundamentally changed. The enemy continues daily shelling along the borders of Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions,” he said.
Demchenko added that in Kharkiv region, particularly in the direction of Vovchansk, Russian forces are active with infantry groups.
“The same tactic is being used by the enemy in Sumy region — on a small stretch within the Khotin and Yunakivka communities,” the spokesperson noted.
“Russia cannot achieve any significant success or advance deeper into our territory, including through the defensive lines held by State Border Guard Service units,” Demchenko emphasized, stressing that Ukrainian forces confidently maintain defense.
He also noted that Russian attacks are not limited to defensive positions.
“During the shelling, the enemy also hits populated areas, effectively confirming its status as a terrorist state, because these actions destroy infrastructure and cause civilian casualties,” he added.
As a reminder, Russian forces attacked the city of Fastiv in Kyiv region with drones again, striking civilian infrastructure for the third consecutive night.
Photos of the damage from the Fastiv attack have also been released.
