Russia struck Dergachi and destroyed dormitories housing displaced persons
Russian troops attacked Derhachi in the Kharkiv region overnight using "Geran-2" drones. The strikes destroyed two two-story dormitories, which were primarily home to displaced persons from Donbas, and also damaged private homes, another dormitory, and civilian vehicles.
Russian troops attacked Derhachi around 2:00 a.m. A residential neighborhood in the city was hit. According to Vyacheslav Zadorenko, head of the Derhachi City Military Administration, the Russians used more than ten “Geran-2” drones.
As a result of the attack, two two-story apartment buildings were destroyed. These buildings were primarily home to people who had fled the Donbas due to Russian aggression. “Today, around 2 a.m., the Russians struck a residential neighborhood in Derhachi with ‘Geran’ drones. As a result of the massive shelling, two two-story apartment buildings were destroyed; they were inhabited mainly by displaced persons from Donbas,” Zadorenko said.
Damaged Homes and Cars
The Russian attack damaged more than just the dormitories. According to preliminary information, another five-story non-residential dormitory was also damaged.
At least four private homes and two civilian vehicles were also damaged. Thus, the strike hit the residential part of the city, where civilians were present.
Dergachi Regularly Suffers Attacks
Derhachi is located in the Kharkiv region, near the border with Russia. Due to its proximity to the border, the city regularly suffers from Russian shelling and drone attacks. This time, the Russian military deployed more than ten attack drones.
The dormitories, where displaced persons lived, sustained the most damage. For many of them, this is not the first time their homes have been destroyed or damaged due to Russian aggression. Emergency services are on the scene. Experts are tasked with assessing the extent of the damage and determining the final consequences of the nighttime strike. As a reminder, a gas station and a business were damaged as a result of a Russian attack on the Poltava region.
In Dnipro on Friday, August 7, a World Health Organization humanitarian warehouse was destroyed as a result of the attack. There were no people on the premises at the time of the strike, and no casualties were reported.
Over the past 24 hours, the occupiers lost 1,130 soldiers and more than 400 pieces of military equipment.
In the Kherson region, one person was killed and two were wounded as a result of Russian shelling.
