Russia lost another 960 troops in the past 24 hours — General Staff
The Ukrainian military has released updated figures on Russian military casualties. According to the General Staff, Russian forces lost 960 personnel over the past 24 hours. The total Russian casualties since the start of the full-scale invasion, as estimated by the Ukrainian side, have exceeded 1.36 million troops.
The enemy’s total combat losses from February 24, 2022, to May 29, 2026, are estimated at:

- armored personnel carriers – 24,636 (+11) units
- artillery systems – 42,860 (+28) units
- MLRS – 1,808 (+2) units

On the night of May 28, powerful explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol. Following a drone attack, a massive fire broke out in one of the city’s districts.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised long-range operations designed to force the aggressor country to pay for the war it started with its own losses. The head of state approved the relevant plans during a detailed meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov. The president emphasized that if Russia continues to choose military action, the Russian oil industry will continue to shrink.
