Russia strikes residential area in Kryvyi Rih, one woman killed
Russian occupying forces hit residential homes in Kryvyi Rih, killing one person and injuring three others.
On 29 January 2026, the head of the city’s Defence Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, reported that enemy shells struck two locations in the private sector, causing large-scale fires and destruction. Rescue teams found the body of an elderly woman while clearing the debris of one of the destroyed homes.
Among the injured are two women and a man, who are currently receiving medical care. Firefighting operations at the impact sites have been completed, and relevant services have provided building materials to affected households for urgent repairs. In the morning, district commissions will begin inspections to document the damage in detail, enabling residents to receive city assistance for property restoration.
The attack on residential areas is another act of terror against civilians in Dnipropetrovsk region. Law enforcement agencies are documenting the consequences of the strikes to open criminal investigations for violations of the laws and customs of war. City authorities urge residents not to ignore air raid alerts, as the threat of further strikes on critical and residential infrastructure remains high.
A separate night drone attack by Russia on the port of Pivdennyi in Odesa region dealt another blow to Ukraine’s logistics.
Russia has shelled five districts of Dnipropetrovsk region. Other attacks also targeted Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Kryvyi Rih.
