Russia attacked Ukraine with 170 drones—air defense systems shot down 147

On the night of September 27, Russia attacked Ukraine with 170 strike drones, including 76 jet-powered ones. As of 7:30 a.m., air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 147 enemy drones. At the same time, strikes were recorded at 18 locations, and debris from downed targets fell at eight additional sites.

 

Starting in the evening of September 26, Russia again attacked Ukraine with a large number of drones. The attack continued into the night of September 27. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, starting at 6:00 p.m. on September 26, Russian forces launched 170 attack drones at Ukraine. Among them were Shahed-type drones, “Gerbera” drones, and “Parody”-type decoy drones. Of the 170 drones, 76 were jet-powered.

The drones were launched from several directions, including the Russian cities of Orel, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo, as well as the temporarily occupied cities of Donetsk and Gvardeyskoye in Crimea. The air attack was repelled by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.

 

As of 7:30 a.m. on September 27, Ukrainian air defense forces had shot down or neutralized 147 enemy drones. However, not all of the drones launched were successfully neutralized. The Air Force reported hits at 18 locations. At eight additional locations, the downed targets and their debris were recorded.

At the time of the morning briefing, information on the consequences of the strikes was still being verified. The Air Force also reminded the public that during an air attack, it is important not to ignore air raid sirens and to take shelter, as some enemy drones may change course or remain in the airspace. The nighttime attack was yet another massive strike by Russian forces on Ukraine using drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
