Russia attacks railway in Chernihiv region, two injured
Russian forces attacked railway infrastructure in the Chernihiv region. A train driver and his assistant were injured in the shelling.
This was reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development on Facebook.
“Russia has once again attacked civilian railway infrastructure in the Chernihiv region,” the statement said. A Russian drone struck a diesel locomotive, causing smoke and a fire.
The injured train driver and his assistant are receiving medical assistance. All relevant emergency services are working at the scene.
In addition, Russian forces carried out a drone strike on the Odesa region during the night of 18 March, resulting in damage to a critical infrastructure facility.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops also launched a massive attack on the Zaporizhzhia region, hitting hundreds of settlements and causing civilian casualties.
On the evening of 17 March, Russian occupying forces struck civilian infrastructure in the settlement of Slatyne using a drone.
On Tuesday, 17 March, Russian troops attacked the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region with an FPV drone. The strike hit a residential building directly, damaging its facade.
Over the past day, 16 March 2026, border communities in the Chernihiv region were also subjected to attacks by Russian forces.
