Russia is preparing for mass production of the new Krona-E air defense system
The Russian Kalashnikov Concern has announced that it is preparing for mass production of the new “Krona-E” short-range anti-aircraft missile system, designed to protect strategic facilities from airborne threats, primarily drones.
However, experts at Defense Express note that the “Krona-E” is not an entirely new design. In fact, the system is a modernized version of the “Sosna” air defense missile system, which was never put into full-scale serial production.
The system can use 9M340 and 9M333 missiles and engage targets at ranges of up to 10 km. Russia is currently actively promoting the “Krona-E” in foreign markets, and the start of mass production may indicate the emergence of a potential export customer.
Previously, Kalashnikov Concern executives stated that the new system could be effectively used in the war against Ukraine.
