Russia spreads fake news about the capture of Rizdvyanka in Zaporizhzhia: Ukrainian forces refute the claim
The Russian Ministry of Defence has circulated yet another piece of disinformation, claiming the alleged capture of the village of Rizdvyanka in Zaporizhzhia region.
A spokesperson for the Southern Defence Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, officially denied these allegations in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, emphasising that the settlement remains fully under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the military spokesperson, the situation on the Huliaipole direction remains under control, despite increased enemy propaganda.
The aggressor’s claims about taking Rizdvyanka appear absurd even from a geographical perspective, as the village is located deep within Ukrainian defensive lines.
“This settlement is at least 20 kilometres west of the frontline. Fighting is currently taking place just a few kilometres east of Dobropillia. Ukrainian defence forces are conducting counterattacks there quite successfully,” Vladyslav Voloshyn said in a comment for RBC-Ukraine.
The spokesperson explained that the route to Rizdvyanka from the front is blocked by settlements such as Prydorozhne, Dobropillia, Ternuvate, and Kosivtseve. Russian troops were unable to overcome the defences on these lines, so their reports of ‘successes’ deeper in the rear are merely part of an information war.
According to intelligence data, the enemy did indeed intend to send a small infiltration group into the area of these villages. However, Ukrainian defenders detected the saboteurs in time: following interceptions, the group was contained and completely destroyed before reaching its objective.
Vladyslav Voloshyn also drew attention to the low quality of Russian fake reports. In official Russian Ministry of Defence bulletins, the village name was translated into Russian as “Rozhdestvenskoye”, which further confirms the lack of real control or even presence of the occupiers in this area.
“This is all complete Russian fake news. The enemy cannot enter there. Yet the Russian Ministry of Defence spreads this fake without even looking at a map,” the Southern Defence Forces representative emphasised.
He added that previously the Russians had similarly ‘captured’ Kosivtseve, Prydorozhne, and Ternuvate, claims which were repeatedly disproved by the real situation on the front.
It is worth recalling that Ukrainian forces have struck a missile unit and enemy supply depots.
