Russia has threatened Britain over the use of British drones in attacks

Russia, the aggressor state, accused the United Kingdom of “escalating the Ukrainian crisis” after it was confirmed that British-made drones were used to strike targets on Russian territory. The Russian Embassy in London claimed that Britain is allegedly complicit in “bloody crimes and terrorist attacks” and threatened consequences.

In response, the British Ministry of Defense told BBC News that the country stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine. A spokesperson for the ministry emphasized the British government’s determination to counter Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as against the United Kingdom and its allies. London, he said, is committed to providing Ukraine with the equipment necessary to defend itself against Russia’s illegal invasion.

According to BBC News, drones manufactured by two British companies were used to strike military and industrial targets in Russia, including oil refineries and warehouses belonging to the online retailer Wildberries. A military source confirmed to the BBC that British drones were used in these attacks. The strikes reportedly caused more than 35 billion pounds in economic damage.

Ukraine has repeatedly struck Wildberries facilities and claimed to have disabled seven of the company’s ten largest logistics centers. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that drones with British components and configurations were used in the attacks on Russian territory, specifically on a fuel facility in the Kamensk district of the Rostov region.

Moscow’s statements came after a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory. According to reports, nine people were killed and 23 others were wounded in Monday’s attack, including a child. On Friday night, according to the regional governor, Ukraine launched approximately 822 drones toward Russia, 600 of which were allegedly headed for Moscow. That same night, Russian attacks against Ukraine claimed at least seven lives and wounded more than 39 people.

In April, the British Ministry of Defense announced the largest package of drone deliveries to Ukraine, which includes the transfer of tens of thousands of drones, including long-range strike drones.
