Russia dropped nine aerial bombs on Kramatorsk

On the afternoon of August 20, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. The occupiers dropped nine aerial bombs on the city, killing one person and injuring at least 11 others.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Russian forces specifically targeted the city center of Kramatorsk. Two commercial buildings caught fire following the strikes. The fires were extensive, so rescue workers had to operate over large areas. Emergency responders contained one of the fires within an area of about 1,000 square meters. However, they were unable to resume work immediately due to the threat of renewed shelling.

Rescue workers were forced to suspend operations until the situation became safer. Another fire was successfully extinguished; it covered an area of about 800 square meters.

One person was killed and others were injured

One person was killed as a result of the Russian strike. At least 11 more people were injured. Emergency services continue to work at the site of the attack. Rescuers are clearing debris and inspecting damaged buildings. Russian aerial bombs also damaged residential buildings and the city’s infrastructure.

Specifically, 26 single-family and multi-family homes, cars, commercial buildings, and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged. The State Emergency Service emphasizes that work at the site of the strike is ongoing, and its progress depends on the security situation.

Kramatorsk remains one of the cities in the Donetsk region that regularly suffers from Russian attacks. This time, the strike hit the central part of the city, where residential buildings, stores, and other civilian facilities are located. This is stated in a press release from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The Russian attack last night was one of the most cynical and large-scale strikes against Ukraine, said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, near the “Auchan” hypermarket on Zdolbunivska Street, a dangerous object was discovered which, according to preliminary data, may be a cluster munition from an X-101 missile.
