Russia attacked energy facilities overnight: power outages reported in three regions
On the night of December 18, Russian forces carried out massive strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the NPC Ukrenergo reported on Facebook.
As a result of the attack, part of the population in three regions was left without electricity. Energy specialists immediately began emergency restoration work to return power as quickly as possible.
According to the relevant ministry, both main grid facilities and distribution system operator equipment came under enemy fire. In some regions, substations and elements of power lines were damaged.
This caused localized outages, affecting both households and businesses.
Energy experts note that the nature of the strikes indicates a deliberate attempt by Russia to destabilize the Ukrainian energy system. The occupiers are trying to hit facilities on which the stable electricity supply of entire districts depends.
At the same time, Ukraine’s air defense system shot down a significant portion of the enemy targets, preventing even more widespread damage.
It is recalled that Russians also attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with FPV drones and artillery, and carried out drone strikes on Ukraine from multiple directions overnight.
