Russia carried out a massive drone attack on Ukraine, with 165 UAVs shot down
On the night of 27 February, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 187 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types. Ukraine’s Air Force destroyed 165 of them.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The drones were launched from the following directions:
- Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — from Russian territory
- Hvardiiske — from the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea
Around 120 of the drones were Shahed-type UAVs.
The air attack was repelled by the Air Force, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
As of 08:30 on 27 February, air defences had shot down or suppressed 165 enemy UAVs.
Hits by 20 strike drones were recorded at 14 locations across the country.
As of the morning of 27 February, several enemy UAVs were still present in Ukrainian airspace. Citizens are urged to follow safety rules and respond promptly to air raid alerts.
Earlier in the morning, Russian forces struck the central part of Sumy, causing a fire in a hotel building. Rescuers evacuated around 50 people.
The day before, Russian troops shelled two districts of Dnipropetrovsk region 20 times using artillery and drones. A 73-year-old woman was injured and is receiving outpatient treatment.
Russian forces also struck Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region, injuring a local resident.
