Russia has attacked Zhytomyr again: one person has been wounded
Russian troops struck Zhytomyr for the second time in two days. A civilian was injured during the latest attack, and logistics infrastructure was hit.
On August 20, the city declared a day of mourning for those killed in the previous strike on the National Police building. At the same time, Russian troops carried out a new attack on Zhytomyr.
He reported that the third victim of yesterday’s strike—a senior officer with the Strategic Investigations Department—died overnight at the regional clinical hospital.
Medical staff fought to save her life, but were unable to save the wounded woman. In total, 53 people were injured as a result of the shelling on August 19.
New Shelling and the Threat of “Shahed” Rockets
“Today around 10 a.m., the enemy carried out another shelling of the Zhytomyr region, targeting the construction site of logistics warehouses near the city of Zhytomyr, where once again one civilian was injured—a construction worker who had not taken cover,” Bunechko reported.
According to the head of the Regional State Administration, the occupiers have shifted their focus and are deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure using high-speed rocket-powered drones.
“I urge all residents to stay in shelters during air raid alerts, because the enemy has begun targeting Zhytomyr and the Zhytomyr region with “Shahed” and “Banderole” drones, which pose an extremely serious threat to the civilian population. 'Banderole' drones reach their targets very quickly," he emphasized.
The head of the Regional State Administration also appealed to local business owners, asking them not to stockpile finished goods in warehouses but to bring them to market immediately in order to minimize losses from possible strikes.
