Russian forces in the Lyman sector are attempting to destroy crossings with drone strikes and aerial bombs

In the Lyman sector, Russian troops are attacking Ukrainian river crossings using drones and aerial bombs to hinder the supply and movement of Ukrainian Armed Forces units.

According to Vasyl Denysiuk, spokesperson for the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Mstislav the Brave, the enemy is striking crossings over the Oskil and Siverskyi Donets rivers in an attempt to disrupt Ukrainian logistics.

Denisyuk explained that the occupiers are trying to exploit the unique features of the landscape in northern Donetsk Oblast.

According to the military official, Russian infantry is losing the initiative and the ability to continue active assaults, but is striking logistics targets with drones. In particular, they are attacking the river crossings used by the Defense Forces.

"The enemy understands that the Lyman sector is, in a sense, 'cut off' by the Oskil and Siverskyi Donets rivers. The Russians are trying to exploit this by launching constant strikes against our logistics, crossings, and bridges, and are attempting to identify the points where we cross these natural barriers. They are inflicting damage there not only with unmanned aerial vehicles but also with constant strikes by guided aerial bombs.”

The spokesperson for the 66th Mechanized Brigade also noted that, due to heavy losses, Russian troops are recruiting more mercenaries. At the same time, the occupiers are not reducing the frequency of their drone strikes.

Ukrainian forces are seeking out the positions of Russian Army drone pilots and striking them to reduce the use of drones in the area.

"Nevertheless, we are constantly working in this direction. First and foremost, this involves ongoing efforts to identify and destroy enemy UAV launch sites in order to minimize their numbers and render them incapable of operating in this regard. This is to ensure the enemy has as few opportunities as possible to launch its UAVs and strike our positions or logistics,” Denisyuk said.
