Russians shot and killed two captured National Guard soldiers in the Donetsk region
According to the investigation, Russian troops executed two soldiers of the Ukrainian National Guard who had been taken prisoner near Dobropillya in the Donetsk region.
According to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on September 2, the Ukrainian servicemen were at a firing position in a forest strip and were carrying out a combat mission. They were subsequently captured by Russian occupiers.
After being taken prisoner, the soldiers were, according to preliminary investigation findings, shot with automatic weapons.
Law enforcement agencies are conducting urgent investigative and search operations to establish all the circumstances of the crime and identify the Russian military personnel involved in the execution of the captives.
A pretrial investigation has been launched into this war crime, which resulted in the loss of life, under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
