Russian forces intensify attacks on Lyman and border directions

Russian troops have stepped up combat operations in Kharkiv region and in the border areas of Sumy region. The most difficult situation is currently observed in the Lyman direction.

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Viktor Trehubov, during a televised briefing.

“Partial activation of the enemy is being recorded (in Kharkiv region – ed.). First of all, if we take the Lyman direction, which is quite important for them, there are constantly very active attempts to break through directly towards Lyman itself,” Trehubov said.

According to the spokesperson, there is also increased activity in the border areas – both in Kharkiv and Sumy regions. In particular, the Russians “are once again attempting infiltration (a tactic of Russian troops involving sending small groups of infantry behind enemy lines or onto Ukrainian positions – ed.) along the line of Hrabovske, Popivka, Pokrivka.”

“These are two settlements north of Hrabovske, where they are also currently trying to advance. Similarly, in Kharkiv region along the border with Ukraine, there are constant attempts at attacks from the same area near Dehtiarne,” Trehubov reported.

In addition, the enemy has become more active in the Velykoburlutske direction.

“They have become active again in the Velykoburlutske direction… and are also acting quite actively in the Vovchansk direction, but there it is less about reinforcement and more about maintaining the intensity,” the spokesperson emphasised.

Meanwhile, in the Kupiansk direction, the situation is less favourable for Russian forces, according to him.

Trehubov also dismissed Putin’s claim of “20 km to Sumy.”

In Kupiansk, only a small, combat-ineffective group of Russians remains, Trehubov noted.
