Russian drone strikes residential area in Chuhuiv, child among the injured

On 3 March, Russian occupation forces struck the city of Chuhuiv in the Kharkiv Oblast with a Geran-2 type drone, hitting a residential area. 

Civilians were injured in the attack, including a seven-year-old girl.

According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleh Syniehubov, the strike directly targeted housing. Five people initially received medical assistance at the scene, though the number of those seeking treatment later increased.

“As a result of the enemy shelling of Chuhuiv, there are injured. Five people required medical assistance, including a seven-year-old girl,” Syniehubov said.

The child and her 32-year-old mother were diagnosed with injuries and hospitalised for further treatment. A 44-year-old man was also hospitalised and is reported to be in a moderate condition. Three elderly residents suffered acute stress reactions and were treated on site.

The explosion significantly damaged a private residential house and several outbuildings in the yard where the strike occurred.

Law enforcement officers and explosives experts working at the scene recovered drone fragments. According to preliminary findings by prosecutors, the enemy used a loitering munition designed to strike targets deep in the rear.

Earlier, Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy facilities, causing power outages. It also launched drone strikes on Odesa region, damaging port infrastructure.
